The Yearling (1946)

Starring Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman, and Claude Jarmon, Jr., was filmed in parts of the Ocala Forest where Marjorie Rawlings had set her novel. MGM's movie version of her classic novel has become a classic in itself.

The Sun Comes Up (1949)

Based upon a story by Rawlings, Mountain Prelude, featured Lassie, a collie dog, and a young orphan. This was Jeanette MacDonald's last film.

Gal Young Un' (1979)

Based on one of Marjorie Rawlings's most successful short stories, was directed by Victor Nunez and filmed in nearby sites such as the Haile Homestead near Gainesville.

Cross Creek (1983)

Starring actress Mary Steenbergen as Marjorie Rawlings and blended some of her fiction with events in her life in Cross Creek.
